Today, I would like to make a difference in a girl’s life
“Being part of the FitSpirit team at my school gives me the chance to train with girls like me and meet many others. No one judges each other. Everyone goes at their own speed and we cheer each other on. After each session, I have more confidence and feel proud of myself. I enjoy it a lot!”
- Amélie, 13 years old
Once they hit puberty, many young girls stop being as physically active. By the end of high school, 9 out of 10 girls fall short of meeting Canadian physical-activity standards.
The pandemic has also caused a huge drop-off in the physical-activity levels of Quebec teens, according to a Léger survey. What’s more, girls between the ages of 12 and 17 are more likely than boys of the same age to develop anxiety, not to mention eating and mood disorders. They also more frequently report having trouble falling asleep.
Give $10, $20 or $50 to make a difference in the life of teenage girl today.
