Magalie Boutin

About team Magalie Boutin

Uniting people through words.

Having grown up in a family where sports and theater were centre stage, Magalie quickly understood that self-expression could be achieved by playing a number of different roles. In her family, the direction was clear: whatever you did, you had to invest yourself in it completely. Clearly, she took the idea to heart. A national swimming medalist, an amateur triathlete with 70.3 Ironman finishes and a mother of four, one of whom plays semi-professional hockey, Magalie is literally driven to perform. And this year, she’ll be performing alongside her daughter, Maïté, for the FitSpirit Mother/Daughter Challenge. And, even though taking her rightful place among three older brothers is an achievement unto itself, the Relay holds a special place in Maïté’s heart. And no wonder, she’s learned from her mom the countless benefits of sports and physical activity.

It’s true that sports and culture are two very different spheres, but Magalie quickly understood how her communication skills could be brought to bear on both: by encouraging people to be their best. So, for the past 20 years, Magalie has enjoyed a rewarding career in the field of communications, with its competitive, dynamic landscape. There, she creates a perfect balance between a stimulating work environment, creativity, self-fulfillment and athletic performance, making her a highly motivated professional who demonstrates leadership, a strong team spirit and a hunger for excellence.

Magalie has been the Head of Press Relations at the National Film Board of Canada for the past three years, bringing her expertise, her strategic thinking and her energy to ensure every project takes a leading role on the world stage.
