FitSpirit is pleased to present this team's leader as part of the 2022 edition of the FitSpirit Mother/Daughter Challenge:
Élise Proulx
Head, Economic Development, Quebec
Physical activity: the cornerstone of a balanced life
Élise spends her time on three main pursuits: work, family and training for upcoming sports events. In fact, her 2022 calendar is already full of them. In addition to the FitSpirit Mother/Daughter Challenge, Élise will be taking part in the Distance Sprint event during the World Triathlon Championships in Montréal next June, and in the Olympic-distance event in Abu Dhabi next November. She will also be on the starting line for her first-ever Ironman 70.3 in July.
Therefore, it will not come as much surprise to learn that Élise has been physically active for most of her life. She went to a high school that placed a strong emphasis on sports, playing soccer competitively for several years. Then there was a few years gap when she became a mother. It must be said that this multi-talented woman gave birth to four children, including three girls. Even though she had always been into team sports, enjoying the strategy of the game as much as the exhilaration of victory, she started to really enjoy running in her early thirties, completing her first half-marathon, then another and another... In search of ever-greater challenges, she took on her first triathlon three years ago and has been running ever since.
Élise’s professional life is highly demanding, and she does not get many breaks. Thankfully, sports have become a welcome way to put things into perspective when the daily chaos descends upon her. Somehow, everything seems a little clearer after she has walked a few kilometers and breathed some fresh air. It helps her create mental space, relieve stress, and find greater balance in her life. While each of her daughters has her own relationship to sports, Élise is looking forward to the FitSpirit Mother/Daughter Challenge as a great opportunity to get together for some physical activity and bonding in a beautiful outdoor setting.
"I take part in the DéfiSport program at Collège Sainte-Anne. I have always been interested in sports and athletic challenges. The FitSpirit Mother/Daughter Challenge will not be difficult, but taking it up together will be the key." – Juliette, 14 years old.
"I didn’t like sports as a kid, except for snowboarding. Having grown up, I do not like sports much more, but going to the gym keeps me motivated because I feel good afterwards. The FitSpirit Mother/Daughter Challenge will be fun to do with my sisters and mother... we’ll chat all the way!" – Andréa, 20 years old
"Sport is a great way to meet new people and bond with others. Participating in the FitSpirit Mother/Daughter Challenge will allow the four of us to spend quality time together, while producing endorphins." – Gabrielle, 23 years old
