Sports, a great way to help women take their rightful place.

During her childhood, Véronique tried a few different sports, but nothing really took hold. Then, in high school, she got involved in athletics on a regular basis, and really loved the way it helped her socialize and develop greater self-confidence. From there, she took another step and began running seriously, training with a close friend. Over the years, the social contact and growing desire to outpace herself led Véronique to enter dozens of competitive events, running increasingly longer distances, culminating in the successful completion of three marathons.

Then life happened, making it harder to compete as regularly. Today, Véronique has a busy professional career and two daughters, aged 8 and 11, but she still makes room for sports by running with her eldest, who’s discovered a competitive spirit of her own, while relying on mom to coach her on to ever-greater achievements. As Véronique sees it, when you love what you do, whether it’s in your professional, family or sporting life, it’s always easier to find the right balance. And it’s important for Véronique to model those good habits to both her daughters. One great way is by taking part in the FitSpirit Mother/Daughter Challenge, which Véronique will happily soon be doing with her daughter, Juliet.

Today, Véronique is the Senior Vice-President, Client Experience Office (CXO) at Sun Life. She’s also actively involved on the board of directors of Les Grands Ballets Canadiens. And be it in her professional or personal life, this dynamic, spirited leader has always been committed to supporting women in business. No wonder: Véronique has learned first-hand the many ways that sports can help develop self-confidence—a key factor in the rise and success of women, both in society and in business. Go, Véro!
