FitSpirit is pleased to present this team's leader as part of the 2022 edition of the FitSpirit Mother/Daughter Challenge:
Danièle Henkel
President
Finding the courage to try
Danièle was born in Oujda, Morocco, to a Jewish Moroccan mother and a German Catholic father. She grew up in North Africa. Today, as a leading entrepreneur in Québec, Danièle believes that sports are synonymous with discipline, rigor, perseverance and hard work. In her eyes, they are a vital way to take responsibility for one’s physical and mental health.
Thanks to her participation in the FitSpirit Mother/Daughter Challenge, Danièle hopes that young girls can use physical activity to reduce and manage stress, enjoy greater contact with nature, and simply have fun while benefiting from the positive energy that nature provides.
Another important aspect of Danièle’s character is that she is not afraid of challenges; even those that other people think are insurmountable. Her motto: anything is possible when you find the courage to try. One look at her impressive record of accomplishment is ample proof. Therefore, it is no wonder her friends say that she wields an iron fist in a velvet glove.
Danièle’s excellent skills as a manager and strategic advisor are highly sought after and appreciated by her colleagues on the boards of directors, private, public, para-public, and advisory councils on which she serves. There, too, she is actively pursuing her personal goal of creating positive energy to help drive human transformation. To her, helping people realize their full potential and gain confidence is a lifelong endeavour.
As a global citizen, Danièle understands the importance of building bridges, bringing the public and the business community together, reducing inequality, promoting diversity, fostering freedom and inclusion, and helping those communities that are often marginalized.
"Sports help us create strong bonds with our peers, colleagues, and friends… they help reduce our stress and promote mental health, so they’ll always have a special place in my life and in the lives of my loved ones." – Amel, 37 years old, Danièle’s daughter
