FitSpirit is pleased to present this team's leader as part of the 2022 edition of the FitSpirit Mother/Daughter Challenge:
Geneviève Fournier
Vice-President – Marketing and Customer Experience
Overcoming obstacles to a healthier lifestyle
Sports have always been a part of Geneviève’s life. In addition, from an early age, they were a precious tool that helped her manage her Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). From there, sports helped her develop other great skills, like diligence and perseverance, a competitive spirit and the ability to outdo herself.
In elementary school, Geneviève was a passionate athlete who really wanted to join traditional sports teams. Unfortunately, there was not much room for girls. However, she would not let that stop her, and she joined a local baseball team. When she started, she was the only girl in her league. Undaunted, she followed her desires and began playing basketball in college. Today, Geneviève still plays with the same freedom of will and determination. She has also added running and cycling to the list of regular activities that help her stay strong and motivated.
At work, home, and through her personal commitments, this seasoned manager places great value on education, health, well-being, and women’s roles in work and society. One great example is her role as Hydro-Québec’s Ambassador for The A Effect, a professional development program created to promote and communicate the many talents of women. She is also a member of Hydro-Québec’s Health and Wellness Network and has recently agreed to be a company sponsor.
Understandably, there was a natural fit between Geneviève’s values and the FitSpirit mission. Today, she is thrilled about taking part in the FitSpirit Mother/Daughter Challenge with her 15-year-old, Liv, who’s already well on her way to a healthy, active lifestyle through her dance studies at school.
"I’m joining the FitSpirit Mother/Daughter Challenge so I can be with my mom and help the cause, but I’m also trying to develop an appreciation for running, which doesn’t come naturally. I’m trying to push my limits." – Liv
