About team L'effet A

FitSpirit is pleased to present this team's leader as part of the 2022 edition of the FitSpirit Mother/Daughter Challenge:

Isabelle Marquis
Co-Creator

Opportunities for all women

Until she went to university, Isabelle was an avid swimmer. Her entire youth is steeped in the odours of chlorine and sunscreen. She swam so much, in fact, that she often dreamed of the long black lines on the bottom of the pool. She even turned her passion and commitment into a job for several years, working as a lifeguard.

Isabelle was also fortunate enough to be introduced to cross-country skiing by her father when she was quite young. Today, this entrepreneur and mother is grateful to him because she continues to practice the sport regularly. For her, it is a complete physical workout that engages all the muscles of her body, and she can train at whatever intensity she chooses. She also appreciates the freedom and rhythm of her movement, which help her forget the occasional discomfort she gets in her old, now tightly fitting cross-country ski outfit. Best of all, there is nothing like the feeling of well-being she gets when she finishes her last kilometer and slides across the finish line.

On top of her love of sports, Isabelle is driven by a deep desire to help women gain access to the same opportunities as men. For the past eight years, she has been working to help reduce the gender gap so that women can take their rightful place in decision-making spheres and help solve the complex issues of our day. Her involvement in the FitSpirit Mother/Daughter Challenge was a natural fit, and she is thrilled to be able to take part in the upcoming event with her 14-year-old daughter Simone.

"I know running’s good for your health, but I don’t really like it. Still, I’m willing to give it another try with my mom. Maybe it will be easier doing it together!" – Simone
