About team Port de Montréal

FitSpirit is pleased to present this team's leader as part of the 2022 edition of the FitSpirit Mother/Daughter Challenge:

Mélanie Nadeau
Vice-President, Publics Affairs and Community Relations

Getting together through physical activity

Melanie’s early relationship with sports had more to do with practicality than it did with passion. Simply put, it was a question of necessity. If she wanted to see her friends, she had to walk or ride her bike, something she did quite often. In fact, she wore out several pairs of sneakers and a few sets of tires in the name of socializing. Later, that same source of motivation led her to play soccer… just one more way to spend time with her friends.

Today, it is quite the opposite. Melanie takes part in individual physical activities on a regular basis because they are easy to fit into her busy life as a mother and a professional. Almost daily, she walks, jogs or goes cross-country skiing. In the past, Mélanie did these activities with her family. However, more recently, given her busy professional life and the fact that the kids are much older, she has found it harder to get everyone together for a good walk or run.

Thankfully, she discovered the FitSpirit Mother/Daughter Challenge. For Mélanie, it is a great opportunity to share quality time with her daughter Juliette, 13 years-old, and the other family members. It is also an excellent chance to do something good for their bodies, their relationships, and for the cause itself.

"I take part in the FitSpirit Mother/Daughter Challenge, in part, to please my mom because I'm not an avid runner or hiker. I instead prefer dancing or team sports at school! That said, I am excited to see how the event turns out and am glad to participate in this worthy cause." – Juliet

Looking back, Mélanie realizes that when she went back to work after her maternity leave and really began focussing on her career, she had to find new, healthy ways of being together with others. Today, she’s grateful for the way that sports and other physical activities help her juggle her roles as a busy mother and a successful professional.

Parce que Mélanie Nadeau, c'est ma grande soeur et qu'elle est un modèle pour moi par sa persévérance à jogger/skier/marcher plusieurs fois par semaine malgré ses semaines chargées.
