Sports: the only goal should be the pleasure of staying active
Marie-Josée has many fond memories of her early years in sports, which were a big part of her life right up until the end of university. However, no matter what sport she was involved in, the most important aspects were the socializing and the fun she had. Despite her natural tendencies to perform at her best, when the level of commitment got too great, Marie-Josée felt the need to move on and explore something else.As is the case for many, when she entered the workforce, sports took a backseat. Instead, she channelled her energies into her professional activities. For sure, she had the occasional urge to get back into one sport or another, but the desire never lasted long.
It was not until her kids were teenagers that Marie-Josée really got back into sports. Rather than focussing on a particular sport with specific goals, she motivated herself by making a commitment to be physically active every day, something easy and fun. Thanks to her shift in focus, Marie-Josée feels she is back on the right track, her own!
Today, she’s grateful for her richly rewarding career, one she has spent in the same organization for the past 30 years. Through her job, she has made several privileged encounters, and over the years, she has played an important role in the success of her company. Now, she wants to give back.
The FitSpirit cause seemed like a perfect fit, one that stimulated both her love of sports and her desire to help do something good for others. So, naturally, Marie-Josée is excited about taking part in the upcoming FitSpirit Mother/Daughter Challenge with her daughter.
“I’ve always loved sports, and I really want to share this moment and have fun with my mom.” – Victoria, 18 years old
