FitSpirit is pleased to present this team's leader as part of the 2022 edition of the FitSpirit Mother/Daughter Challenge:
Stephanie Stipac
Brand Manager, North America
A passion for sports can always be revived
Stephanie was born in Europe. And when she was young, there simply were no leagues for girls. If you wanted to play sports, you had to fit in with the boys. She even had to fight for her place on the local soccer team. And while she fared well in that kind of competitive environment, by the time she was 10 or 11, she’d had enough. Soon after that, her family moved to Canada, and because of the transition, Stephanie dropped out of sports and remained basically inactive for the next seven years. Until, that is, she discovered snowboarding. She fell for it immediately and hit the slopes with a newfound passion. A natural athlete, she developed her skills quickly, but had to work hard to reach a competitive level. As she mainly practised on small mountains near Ottawa, she had to work twice as hard during her gym session. Today, Stephanie’s leadership and perseverance are expressed in many areas other than just the slopes. As a fashion enthusiast and Oakley project management expert, she has a keen ability to thrive in fast-paced settings, interacting perfectly with people from diverse backgrounds as she likes human connection. And no matter what she’s working on, she does it with total commitment. Having undergone the phenomenon of ‘sports dropout’ as a teenager, Stephanie understands the importance of FitSpirit’s mission. She’s experienced first-hand the ways inactivity can negatively affect the life of a young girl. She carefully observes her daughter Danick, who is currently 11 years old, and feels it is fragile at times. The FitSpirit Mother/Daughter Challenge offers a great opportunity for the two of them to be physically active in a whole new way, as mom and daughter, without peer pressure or competition."I am excited to play outside, spending time with my mom." – Danick
